
Current US military operations are an integral part of the United States' national security strategy. They aim to protect our homeland, our allies, and our citizens throughout the world and maintain our nation's edge in the global arena.
Conflicts and wars are often the result of strategic, political and economic decisions. They are often more complicated than a hostile firing a missile or launching a warship. They may also arise from the United States responding unexpectedly to disasters or natural catastrophes, or conducting a non-combatant emergency evacuation operation or defending the homeland against Russian aggression.
We have been involved in five formally declared military wars as well as numerous other forms authorized by Congress, United Nations Security Council Resolutions, or any other form of military engagement. Other types include international humanitarian help, counter-drug or anti-terrorism missions and peacekeeping operation.

Afghanistan, 2018
The Afghan security situation is still characterised by persistent tensions. It also faces challenging conditions and growing security risks that pose a threat to US interests and partnerships in this region of responsibility (AOR). The United States has a partnership that places significant emphasis on training, supporting, and advising the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces.
Yemen, 2018
The lives of Yemeni citizens are still at risk from the contested, increasingly complicated civil war. This war, fueled by the Saudi-led coalition in support of the Government of Yemen, requires continued engagement and support from the United States to help the people of Yemen gain greater stability and freedom.
Pakistan, 2019
The United States is involved in a wide variety of military activities throughout the country and abroad that are directed by the President. These operations range from training local forces, to assisting foreign countries in their own fights against terrorists, to combating extremist groups and other rogue elements. The Army plays an important role in many of these efforts.
Israel, 2019
The Army is an integral part of the defense of Israel. It provides military support to the Israeli Defense Forces. These forces can include infantry as well as armored, airborne and special operations units. Command and control units are also included. The Army provides support for the U.S Embassy in Israel and other United States missions.

Middle East, 2019
The Middle East remains a volatile and complex region that continues pose a threat to our security. The President directs a variety of military activities in the Middle East. These include antiterrorism, military aid and training, combating terrorist acts, and supporting the Iraqi government in fighting against terrorist groups and other rogue forces.
Strategically located, CENTCOM's AOR protects against Iran-directed stability, maintains a strong presence, and increases the United States' strategic advantage as part of Great Power Competition. CENTCOM is a trusted partner in the promotion of regional stability and peace, countering transnational threat, strengthening security cooperation and supporting US-led security allies in this region.
