Chinese AI firms' contributions to the robotics industry are booming, thanks to government efforts to improve the country's ecosystem for AI development. Government-funded research institutions in the country have been readjusting programs to emphasize AI-related research. The national core R&D program for "digital medical equipment" allocates as much as $100 million to research on AI enabled medical devices. Research into AI theory and algorithms is required for the "intelligent Robots" core R&D programme.
Chinese AI companies now make up a national AI association overseen and managed by the NDRC MIIT & MOST. The alliance's focus is to build a public service platform for the AI industry, while simultaneously harnessing the capabilities of the entire industrial chain to accelerate the healthy development of China's artificial intelligence industry. AIDP includes over 200 firms. It will oversee AI deployment and development.
