One way to measure a strong military force is through economic resources and personnel.

The military has been a part and parcel of a nation’s culture for a long time. This is reflected in the United States' patriotic culture, and the military plays a significant role in national defense. In times of conflict, soldiers provide support to their fellow soldiers by performing administrative tasks and providing protection. New technologies have been continually developed since World War II. Guided missiles have been the most important military technology for 50 years. This technology makes it easier to fight high-impact strikes. Robotic systems are also becoming increasingly important in military operations. These systems are available both in hardware and software.

Military personnel often work in communities, and these communities often function as societies within societies. They could be involved with education, medicine, or have their own economy. Aside from these civilian roles, the military also plays a part in public diplomacy that aims to improve U.S. relationships abroad.

The United States Army holds the title of world's strongest military force. In the past five years, it has spent 500 billion dollars on developing branches. The Department of Defense is now facing a new threat. It is currently facing threats from advanced biological weapons and terrorist attacks.
