Endeavor Robotics
FLIR acquired Endeavor Robotics (a company that produces infrared cameras, sensors, and other equipment for unmanned and manned vehicles) last year. Prox Dynamics was also acquired by them recently. The company behind the Black Hornet mini-drone can now be used as a soldier-borne sensor by the Army. FLIR and Endeavor Robotics both competed for the CRS-H program, but FLIR won out.
Endeavor Robotics is an American company that designs unmanned ground vehicles and other advanced technologies. It is located in Massachusetts. The platform is ideal for a range of applications including IED clearing and hazmat respond. It has a strong track record of delivering UGVs. The company has also been awarded prestigious Programs of Record. It has shipped over 7,000 platforms to 55 different countries.
It is developing medium-sized robotics to provide soldiers with greater maneuverability, standoff capabilities, and detection of potentially lethal threats. The Centaur-UGV manufactured by the company is currently part of the Army program.
U.S. Army
After an October 2018 engineering and manufacturing test, the Army chose CRS-I to be its new unmanned vehicle. The lightweight robot will carry a large range of payloads. The universal controller will control it. The robotic vehicle will be open-architecture, allowing the Army to customize it for different missions.

There are four mission payloads for the new system: vehicle-borne IEDs and heavy explosive ordnance. It can move upto six miles per annum and clear 32-inch obstacles. It weighs in at 700 pounds when unloaded and 1000 pounds when loaded. It has high-definition cameras as well as a robot manipulator.
CRS-I Robot is the Army’s first small-scale robotic program. It will be less than 25 pounds, and capable of complex tasks like lifting heavy objects. The contract is valued around $164million. It includes a low-rate initial production phase and an annual production release. The contract's next phase will see the delivery of 3,000 robots in the next one- to two years.
