The Ohio-class submarine is the largest US submarine. The Navy has ordered nine of these submarines for $22 billion, with an option to build another one. Block V is a new class of submarines that will be longer in length and larger in displacement than their predecessors. If they are built as per specifications, they will be the second largest US submarine.
Ohio-class submarines
The US Navy's Ohioclass submarines is one of the most powerful military vessels. They are powered via steam turbines or pressurized-water reactors. They can travel at 25 miles per hour and can reach a depth 800 feet. Electric Boat, Groton, Connecticut built the Ohio's hull.
The Ohio-class submarines can carry up to 154 Tomahawk cruise missiles. Each Tomahawk missile has a range of 1,000 miles. They can also carry up to 66 special operation personnel. The forward-most ballistic missile tubes can also be used as lock-out chambers.

Typhoon-class submarines
The US Navy is phasing out Typhoon class submarines. They were created to counter Soviet submarines during Cold War. The US Navy designed the Typhoon class to rival the nuclear-powered submarines. The overhaul of the leading submarine, TK-208 has begun. It is unlikely to return to service, and all of the other submarines in the class are also slated to be decommissioned.
The Typhoon submarine is a unique multi-hull design, with two pressure hulls and five inner habitable hulls. There are 19 compartments total. The missile compartment is located in the bow at the top, between the pressure hulls. While the outer light hull of the submarine is made from steel, its submarine structure is made from titanium.
Russian submarines
The Russian Navy has four submarines, the Borei class, in their fleet. There are 107 crew members on each submarine. They are about a hundred and seventy meters long, thirteen meters wide, and weigh 24,000 tonnes. The submarines are propelled using nuclear reactors. They also have advanced hulls to reduce noise. They can travel at speeds of up 25 knots underwater.
Russia is building the Belgorod, which is the first of four submarines. It will be equipped with Poseidon torpedoes which can be used to target coastal targets. While the Belgorod is not the largest submarine built, other countries will build larger ones.

Block V Submarines
Block V submarines are significantly larger than earlier versions, ranging from 377 feet to 460 feet. These submarines, which can carry 10 thousand tons, are second only to the Ohio Class in size. These submarines have eighty-three feet worth of vertical launch systems (VLS) tubes. They can also deploy up to 40 cruise missiles.
Block V submarines will also have acoustic superiority upgrades. These upgrades were a priority for the Navy in designing new submarines. According to a report released by the Congressional Research Service on February 20, 2022, the new boats will differ from Block IV boats by approximately 20%.
