Government-funded research institutions in the country have been readjusting programs to emphasize AI-related research. For example, the government's "digital health equipment" core national R&D program allocates up to $100 millions to research into AI-enabled medical devices. The core R&D program "intelligentrobotics" requires research into AI theory as well as algorithms.
Chinese AI companies are now members of a national AI alliance that is overseen by the NDRC MIIT and MOST.
